1916 Commemoration Day

On Tuesday, the 16th of March we celebrated the centenary anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising in St Peter and Paul's. We had been eagerly learning all the details of the Rising and we proudly sang our national anthem as the Irish flag was raised in the garden beside the school. Creative writing, poetry and music were enjoyed from the various class levels as an expression of our rich cultural heritage.  We were extremely proud of Maria Antonia Mateies from our class. Maria read aloud her acrostic poem based on the word 'Pearse' after the great Irish leader. Well done Maria on a fantastic job!!

Ready to join in the celebrations!

Well done Maria!

Music in the Classroom!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Ms Sheil back to our classroom again on Wednesday for our second 'Music in the Classroom' workshop. We explored and exercised our voices, sang songs and raps and explored various instruments in groups and as a class performance. We discussed the role of the conductor in an orchestra and Sadiya, Patrick, Caoimhe and Myles did a fantastic job of conducting the class!!

Music in the Classroom

On Wednesday, the 2nd of March we had a very special visit from Ms Maria Sheil to do a music workshop with us in the classroom. It was fantastic! We exercised our voices, learnt and performed new songs, and explored various instruments in groups. We are really looking forward to our next workshop next Wednesday!

Cooking in the Classroom!

We have been learning how to write receipes and this week we particularly focused on that of Rice Krispie buns. After writing and presenting our receipes, we followed those instructions and created our own Ruce Krispie buns in the class. They were delicious!!

World Book Day!

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday, the 3rd of March and the children all made a fantastic effort in dressing up as their favourite book characters. It was a difficult decision but Sadiya Alabi's cat costume won the overall prize for the most creative outfit! Well done to everybody for taking part and a special thanks to all the parents for their help with the costumes. Then at 11am, all the boys and girls ( and teachers!) dropped everything and read their favourite books for ten minutes in silence as a whole school activity. We all thoroughly enjoyed World Book Day!

Well done Sadiya!
